Windows on ARM is now fully supported in LimaCharlie deployments. With sensor version 4.33.26, LimaCharlie ships a native ARM64 build for Windows, replacing the x64 emulation layer that earlier versions relied on.

Who this affects

ARM64 Windows is increasingly common in enterprise environments. MSSPs and SOC teams managing mixed-architecture fleets can now deploy consistent, native sensor coverage across all Windows endpoints without per-device accommodation.

Why we initially chose emulation

ARM64 Windows devices have been around for years, but their security tooling often lagged behind. Rather than leave these endpoints uncovered, LimaCharlie previously ran its x64 sensor under Windows' built-in emulation. It worked, but emulation adds overhead and limits how deeply a sensor can interact with the underlying hardware and OS.

What changed

The new native ARM64 sensor runs directly on ARM hardware. It is available as both a standalone executable and an MSI installer, matching the deployment options already available for x64 and x86.

For teams deploying via MSI, the ARM64 package is at https://downloads.limacharlie.io/sensor/windows/msiarm64

Getting started

Upgrade to sensor version 4.33.26 or later and select the ARM64 download for your target devices. Full installation documentation is in the LimaCharlie docs.
